The California Retail Food Code requires that retail food facilities which handle unpackaged food must employ at least one person who is certified in food safety.
Certification in food safety requires passing a state approved examination, demonstrating knowledge of the causes of food borne illness and mandatory practices for prevention. Upon passing the examination, a certificate will be issued, valid for 60 months.
BERC conducts a 7 hour Food Safety Manager class and administers the certification examination which meets the requirements of the California Health and Safety Code.
Please contact the instructor, Duane O’Donnell, R.E.H.S., for additional information at (916) 649-0225 or email foodclass@sacberc.org.
You also have the option of registering and paying for the class online using a credit or debit card.
